Alyssa Dituro

Director of Southminster Child Care Center

Hi! My name is Alyssa Dituro and I’m the Director of our childcare center. I grew up all over the United States since my parents were in the military and now live in South Nashville so I know the surrounding area and many of the great people who live and work here as well – it’s a great place to live and work! I have a wonderful husband and sweet baby boy that comes to our center.
I knew from an early age that I wanted to work with children. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s Degree in Inner City Studies. I have 10 years of experience teaching and working with children. I absolutely love coming to Southminster everyday and getting to see all of our children and families.
Please stop by and visit our center. I’d love to meet you, show you our new school, and introduce you to our fantastic teachers!

Susan Christison

Assistant Director

Susan Christison’s affiliation with the Southminster Child Care Center dates back to its establishment in the early 1970’s. As a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church, she served on the church committee which organized and originally opened the center as a Half-day Program for 3 to 4-Year-Olds.

In the early 1980’s, Southminster recognized a growing need in the community and added a Full-day Child Care program. Susan served as a teacher in the half-day program until it was discontinued. She then became the Curriculum Coordinator for the Full-Day Program, and later she served as the School-age Coordinator for the Before and After-School program.

Susan and her husband, Terry Christison, met at Auburn University and moved to Nashville upon completion of his military commitment. Both of their children attend the Southminster Child Care program.

Susan shares that, “My having been such a vital part of our program over the years has allowed me to share my creativity, to use my love of art and music with my degree as an Associate of Fine Arts, and to treasure the joy of participating in the lives of so many young children as they grow and learn. It’s been a blessing to me personally, and I feel it will bless children and their families in the years to come.
