Fellowship

Crowd_at_church_SPC_NashvilleAt Southminster we strive to meet the needs of our congregation through fellowship and caring. Our Fellowship Team works in coordination with all committees of Session to encourage participation with special services and events. This typically includes some type of meal or reception. These planned events allow meaningful time to get to know others in our small congregation at Southminster. There are numerous fellowship opportunities throughout the year. Some are planned monthly, while others are annual events. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

First Sunday Lunch Bunch is one of those opportunities. Those choosing to attend go to a restaurant in the neighborhood and enjoy lunch with friends…Dutch Treat.

Girls Night Out (GNO) is another opportunity that is typically the third Monday night of each month.   The women of Southminster certainly enjoy going out for dinner and the fellowship! There are usually a few special GNO’s around the holiday that are always lots of fun!

Men’s Breakfast is scheduled monthly in Southminster’s Fellowship Hall. This delicious meal cooked by our own men is usually followed by the men in attendance assisting with a variety of chores around the Church.

Quarterly Activities and Special Events include our Soup Lunch following the Congregational Meeting in January, Celebration Sunday Lunches, a Game Night, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Lenten Lunches, Pentecost Picnic, our famous Chicken Sunday in the fall, Stewardship Stew, Advent Meals, and our Annual Christmas Dinner.

Care of Members is a large responsibility of our Fellowship Team. One of the things that Southminster strives to do is to care for those in our Congregation. This care comes in many forms, including calls, cards, visits, meals, transportation, assistance with household chores, and financial support. Seeking out those who might need some expression of love and finding someone who would love to share with them is an ongoing process.
